DEDICATED                      RESPONSIVE                    ACCOUNTABLE

Meet Kendra

Priorities

For over 20 years, Kendra has proudly called the Grande Prairie area home. She’s raised her family here, built lasting connections, and invested in the community she loves.

Kendra shares the same priorities and concerns  as many Grande Prairie families. These include:

Affordability for families - lowering taxes

Transparency & Accountability

Effective strategies for homelessness

Crime & Safety

Fixing snow removal

Cut City Hall overspending & waste

More efficient transit system

How I will work on Council:

Affordability for families

Many families are experiencing high living costs & food insecurity:

  • Cut taxes, reduce unnecessary spending, ensure big projects have community engagement and support
  • Prioritize essential services: roads, safety, community needs
  • Drive efficiency in operations
  • Support local food banks, nonprofits, and community groups already serving families

Transparency & Accountability

Taxpayers need to know how their money is being spent.

  • Get more input from residents before signing big projects
  • Accessible spending & expense reports, detailed budgets: Make available online
  • Hold Town Hall meetings, regular meet & greets
  • Propose a Ward system*

*Example: City of Calgary Councillors & Wards

Tackling homelessness

Homelessness can’t wait.

  • Expand access to mental health and addiction supports
  • Partner with nonprofits and community groups already doing great work
  • Prioritize prevention
  • Bring neighbors, businesses, and service providers together to find real solutions

Crime & Safety

We need real tools and solutions:

  • Support our law enforcement with the tools & resources to do their job safely and expertly
  • Focus on combatting local drug trade; increased collaboration with police; establish joint committees
  • Tools to enforce no out of town shelter users; Propose high barrier shelter to reduce drug trafficking
  • More supportive and affordable housing for MH and physical disabilities, not emerg. shelter
  • ER specialized team triage (ICAT, CRT, etc.) then immediate admittance to MH unit where appropriate
  • Tax credits / rebate program to incentivize businesses, homeowners to improve property safety ("harden" targets)
  • More neighbourhood associations, preventative youth programs, after school clubs
  • Explore Community Court solutions: Day 1 -Arrest, Day 2- Court, Day 3- convicted/released immediately to treatment/ resources/probation, etc.

Sports & Recreation

Improve quality of life and health for families:

  • Ensure quality recreational facilities stay under budget and prioritize multi-use / multi-sport spaces
  • Continue to offer discount programs for low-income families / those with disabilities
  • Collaborate with schools, sports teams, and community groups to encourage and possibly coordinate access to programs
  • Increase walkability in neighbourhoods; improve/ add sidewalks and accessibility
  • Encourage & incentivize local facilities & groups to offer after school programs, facilitate coordination
  • Cut red tape for neighbourhood associations to grow and take ownership of their communities
  • Increase awareness for new residents of facilities and programs; encourage use: Propose "Welcome to GP" pkg for new business professionals, etc. to get immersed into recreational activities, local events

Snow removal

One of our highest cost items & an essential service:

  • Shorter clearing timelines and service level target
  • Improved communication via updates and plow progress GPS technology
  • Snow pack strategies
  • Best practices around parking bans for clearing-to-curb

Cut overspending & waste

  • City servants are just that: Mayor & Council serve the residents, not themselves
  • Cap expense accounts, post reports online
  • Require Reports to Community on committee work, travel, project goals & results
  • Eliminate automatic raises; create external committee

Improved transit system

  • Expand routes / extend hours for reliability and convenience
  • Increase ridership with fare free days, special events
  • Smaller buses = more efficient
  • Modernize the system with better scheduling & technology to reduce wait times
  • Involve residents in shaping transit priorities

Did you know?

In the last municipal election, the total of those voting was only

21%

As 79% of voters chose not to participate, decisions on how your tax dollars

were used were made by a small number of people over the last 4 years.

Kendra wants to hear from you!

Too often, people feel their voices don’t matter in the decisions shaping our community. Kendra is determined to change that. She believes that real progress comes when everyone has the chance to share their ideas, concerns, and hopes for the future. That’s why she’s committed to creating open opportunities for residents to be part of the conversation and the plans that guide our city.

With Kendra, your voice won’t just be heard—it will help shape the future of our community.

On October 20, vote for

KENDRA SLEDDING

and put her to work for you and your family!
